Happy Women's History Month!

March is International Women’s Month, a time to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of women throughout the world. It is also a time to reflect on the struggles and realities that many women still face today. International Women’s Month originated in the early 1900s as a way to honor the labor movement and the fight for women’s rights. It has since evolved into a celebration of all women and their contributions to society.

This month gives us an opportunity to recognize the amazing achievements of women around the world, as well as bring attention to the inequalities we still face. The theme of International Women’s Month this year is “Choose To Challenge.” This encourages individuals to call out gender bias and prejudice, and to challenge the status quo in order to make progress and create a more equitable society. This theme speaks to the power of individual action, and the importance of standing up for what is right.

During International Women’s Month, we can also recognize the importance of intersectionality. Women are not a monolith, and our experiences vary greatly depending on race, class, sexuality, and other factors. It is important to recognize that some women face more oppression and discrimination than others,

One of the best ways to celebrate International Women’s Month is to recognize and support the incredible women in our lives. Make sure to take the time to thank them for all they do, whether it’s a mother, sister, friend, or colleague. Let them know that you recognize and appreciate their efforts, and that you value them.

International Women’s Month is also a great opportunity to show support for the women in your community.  Consider donating to local organizations that are working to empower women. Organizations like these are working to make sure that women’s rights and needs are met. Additionally, you could shop at a small woman owned business. Your support would mean the world to them. Don’t forget to celebrate yourself!
